Connecting Israeli Travelers with Finland’s Tourism Ecosystem

A 17th-century manor estate sitting on its own ten-hectare peninsula on Lake Kaart, an hour north of Helsinki-Vantaa and right against Liesjärvi National Park. The Terwa is not a hotel with rooms to book — it is a whole estate you take over: the manor, five separate cottages and outbuildings, six saunas, a chef, and a barn hall that seats two hundred. They call themselves a premium charter hotel, which is a fair description: you reserve the peninsula, not a night.

Where you sleep

Six separate buildings, so a group can spread out or a couple can have the estate almost to themselves.

• The manor — 16 double rooms, up to 38 guests with extra beds
• Summer cottage — 10 people
• Workers’ house — 6+2 people
• Lakeside spa, boathouse and beach cottage — 2 people each

What else is on the estate

• Six saunas. Two conference saunas, a lakeside spa sauna, a wood-fired sauna and a beach sauna, plus a hot tub and winter swimming off the shore.
• A chef on site, cooking local Finnish menus — breakfast through to a full group or wedding dinner.
• Weddings and celebrations in the barn hall, the manor rooms and the courtyard by the water. Up to 300 guests, 200 seated.
• Meetings for up to 25 with hybrid facilities, and several smaller rooms.
• Outdoors. 3.6 km of maintained park trails, hiking and mountain-bike routes with a guide, beach volleyball, frisbee golf, and the national park next door.
• Unusual extras they run themselves — freediving and perfume-making among them, changing with the season.

Worth knowing before you write

• This is southern Finland, not Lapland. Forest and lake country an hour from Helsinki. The aurora reaches this far south on roughly 10 to 20 nights a year, so treat it as a lucky night rather than the plan — for the lights you want Lapland.
• You book the estate, not a room. Prices are quoted per stay or per event, so tell them your dates, your numbers and the occasion and they will come back with a figure.
• Finnish and English. No Hebrew — write to them in English and you will be fine.
• Ask about kosher and Shabbat. We have not confirmed what they can arrange. With a private estate and their own kitchen there is usually room to work something out, but ask Kari directly rather than assuming.
• Good for a group that wants the place to itself — a wedding, a big family trip, a company offsite. Less suited to two people wanting one night on the way north.
